Irving Goffman, a sociological theorist, believed that we seek to present ourselves in the ways we want to be seen. He stated that if we have a “spoiled identity” we seek to hide these parts of ourselves, but those that have similar identities “know” us because they share a similar secret identity. What could he mean by this?
